We're proud to officially welcome you to Desert Calling (DC), a site for fellowship and the inquiry of the Orthodox Christian faith. 1. Our forum membership is composed of sincere inquirers, catechumens, and Orthodox Christians who are in communion with (SCOBA). We will allow non-disruptive posts by visitors who do not meet this membership criteria. Only clergy who are ordained and serve in a jurisdiction in communion with SCOBA will be officially recognized on this forum as Priests or Deacons. PM the Administration for more information. 2. It is off topic to post things that are contrary to the teachings of the Orthodox Church in communion with SCOBA. 3. Don't insult anyone (member or not). This includes questioning another's piety or discrediting Priests/Spiritual Fathers, Bishops, or Patriarchs. 4. Discussions about how to be dispassionate is welcome. Vulgarity or discussion of harmful behavior of any kind will not be allowed. 5. Do not post private information such as phone numbers or email addresses. 6. Do not make posts that are disruptive to the forum. This includes, but is not limited to throwing "canons" at other members, making accusations about 'ecumenicism' or being hostile toward those who are not Orthodox. What constitutes disruption or hostility is determined by the staff. 7. Under no circumstance should a registered member of Desert Calling open a "sock account." Desert Calling exists so that REAL Orthodox Christians, catechumens and inquirers can interact with one another with trust and with faith and with love. The only purpose of a "sock account" would be to deceive the members of Desert Calling. If it is discovered that a member has opened a "sock account," the account will be immediately shut down and the member will be sternly warned. Any other violation of this term of service will result in a permanent ban from Desert Calling. These Terms of Service apply to posts, private messages as well as to the chat box. Violations of these Terms of Service may be result in the following staff actions: post edits, threads closed, warnings, and if necessary, temporary or permanent suspended posting privileges. To appeal any of these actions write to Xenia who is the Administrator who handles appeals. The Administration reserves the right to change these Terms of Service as necessary. Although the administrators and moderators of Desert Calling will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of Desert Calling, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message. The internet should not and cannot be regarded as a reliable source of Orthodox information, especially for someone brand new to the faith. As mentioned, all posts and messages express the views of the authors themselves. No counsel should replace that of your priest. We are all co-strugglers in the faith, and the goals of this community is edification and fellowship, learning the praxis of the faith and leaving the theology and dogma up to catechetical discussions between ones self and his/her priest. |
